Overview

Thank you so much for using Dezk.

It is remote-control software for your PC. It has many built-in functions and tools that you can utilize to make things faster and automated. You can not only even control your mouse and keyboard with it but also you can execute shortcut keys or automate the whole basic tasks and run them with just a single click. It has also plugin support so that you can only install the tool you want from the available plugins and lots more to come.

Installation

Installing Dezk Android App

  • Dezk app is available on PlayStore. You can download it from there.

Installing Dezk Client Software

  • Visit Dezk's official website.
  • Click on the Download button there, and you will see a registration form appear on your screen.
  • Fill that registration form with your original details and click on submit, verify the OTP sent to your email address and you will have your activation key.
  • Save that key somewhere on your PC because it will be used to activate your Dezk software.
  • Now click on the Download button below the registration key and your Dezk software is now started downloading on your PC.
  • Now just install the software by double-clicking on it.
  • Start the software using the Dezk shortcut created on your desktop, for the first time it will ask you for the activation key, paste the key there that you have got from the website, and click on Activate.
  • That's it, now you are ready to go.

Establish Connection

Steps to establish the connection between Dezk App and Dezk Client are as follows:
  • Turn on your mobile device hotspot and open the Dezk App.
  • Connect your PC with your mobile device's hotspot and after that open the Dezk Client.
  • Now when the Dezk Client starts, you will see a QR Code on it, just click on the scan button on Dezk mobile app and scan that QR Code.
  • That's it, now your mobile app is connected with your Dezk Client.
Important Points
  • Dezk works properly if your mobile device and PC are connected on the same wireless network or Wi-Fi, but it will slow down the speed of Dezk.
  • If for any reason you want to use another mobile device or Wi-Fi network, then you must restart the Dezk Client.
  • Keep your Dezk mobile app and Dezk client updated as it may affect the connection if you are using an old version of them.
  • Make sure you are not using any external Wi-Fi dongle for the wireless network on your PC, as Dezk might not work with that and connection won't establish, we are working on it and this issue will be solved in future updates.

Basics

Some basic features of Dezk are remote Mouse & Keyboard.

Mousepad

Mousepad is one of the basic features of Dezk, you can use your mobile device as a mousepad using this feature. There are a few gestures you can use like a two-finger tap works as right-clicking and a three-finger tap works as mouse middle click.

You will also see a slider on the right side of the mousepad, you can use it as a slider, similar to scrolling your mouse wheel up and down.

There is also a fist-like icon there, it is called grabber and you can use it to hold on to any item and drag and drop it anywhere on the screen as it works similarly as holing left click on the item and then dragging that item. And just below that button, you will see a quick keyboard switch button that you can use to quickly switch between mouse and keyboard in-app.

And in the end, there is a left and right mouse button at the bottom of the mouse pad, you can hold them to drag items on the screen and use them as a normal mouse button.

Keyboard

The keyboard is also one of the basic features of Dezk, you can use your mobile device as a keyboard using this feature. There are some important keys that you can use and also you can execute some shortcuts using this keyboard. There is a text field below the button that you can use to type on your PC. Also, there is a quick mouse switch button that you can use to quickly switch to the mousepad anytime.

There is also a small hack in this keyboard, if you want to execute a basic shortcut key like Ctrl + C using this keyboard only then you can just click on the input field and hold on the Ctrl button on the app screen and write C in the text field and this will do the trick

Quick Actions

Now we will see some interesting parts of Dezk, using quick actions you can do some tasks pretty easily, we will discuss them here one by one.

Paste To PC

By this option, you can paste any copied text from your android device to your PC, just copy the text you want to paste into your PC and open the app and click on this option, and it will be pasted on your PC just in no time.


Copy From PC

With this option, you can paste any copied text from your PC to your android device, just copy the text in the PC you want to paste and click on this option, and now you can paste that text in your android device.


PC Screenshot

With this option, you can quickly take a screenshot of your PC screen and it will automatically save that screenshot on your Desktop.


Toggle Dezk Client

You can quickly hide and unhide Dezk Client software on your PC by simply clicking on this option.


Adjust PC Brightness

You can easily adjust your PC brightness using the slide bar given in this option.


Adjust PC Volume

You can easily adjust your PC volume using the slide bar given in this option.


PC Screen Recorder

This is a built-in screen recorder in Dezk. You can easily record your PC screen remotely using this option, you just have to press the play button on this option and it will start recording your PC screen in no time. You can also flip that "Rec. System Audio" switch to record system audio while recording the screen. And finally, when you are done with the recording you can just press the stop button in this option and it will automatically save the video recording in your Downloads folder.


Multimedia Controls

As the name suggests you can control basic multimedia options using the buttons given in this option like play or pause music, mute, forward, backward, stop.

Hotkeys

This is the very unique feature of Dezk, as you can easily press any shortcut key in your PC using just a single tap on your mobile device. Hotkeys or shortcut keys can be organized into different categories according to your needs. You got one built-in into Dezk named Universal Keys, you can't modify it but you can create your category and then create shortcut keys into specific categories.

Creating Hotkeys

Creating hotkeys is simple, you can follow the steps given below to create hotkeys.

We will start by creating a new category My HK

  • Start Dezk client on your PC and open the Hotkeys section.
  • Now write My HK in the Create Category input field and click on Create.
Now we will create hotkeys inside our new category
  • Click on the Shortcuts tab
  • Click on the dropdown menu to open it and you will see your category listed there, click on it.
  • Now click on Create Shortcut field and you will see all the keys listed there.
  • We will create a Win + D shortcut key, so choose Win from the dropdown list. You can start typing there to search for your key. Now will see a tag in that field and you can also see a shortcut preview bottom of the window. Now just type D there and hit the Tab key on your keyboard, you will now see two tags in that particular field and a shortcut preview is showing Win + D.
  • Write Show Desktop in the Key Label field or you can write anything you want, also you can choose any color you want for your shortcut key by clicking on the Key Color box and selecting any color you want, we will stick with the default color here and just click on Create button.
  • You will now see your new shortcut key listed in the list there.

Using Hotkeys

  • Connect your dezk app with the dezk client if not connected and from navigation choose hotkeys.
  • You will now see your newly created category listed there with the default inbuilt category named Universal Keys, you can check that out too by clicking on it or you can click on your category and you will see a tile with the label that you have given to it.
  • Open any software or any window on your PC and click on this tile and you will see that shortcut key get executed and all open windows hide automatically because it is the shortcut key of Show Desktop.
  • You can try to create other keys on your own.

Modifying Hotkeys

  • If you want to rename any category then just click on the pencil icon next to it.
  • If you want to delete any category then just click on the delete icon next to it but keep in mind that all the hotkeys in that particular category will also get deleted.
  • If you want to rename or change the color of a particular hotkey then just click on the pencil icon nextto a particular hotkey label or color square. Also, you can delete the key by clicking on the delete icon next to the hotkey.
Note: You can modify, create or delete hotkeys or any category while being connected with the dezk client and all the changes will be synced in real-time and you can see the changes in the app right away.

Macros

This feature in Dezk is to make automation possible, you can just do anything with macros like executing shortcuts, writing some text, pressing some keys, executing codes, opening any file or folder, opening URL, and lots more.

About Macros

Macros are made up of one or more steps that execute automatically in a sequence one by one. You can also create loops of particular steps that we will learn later in this document but as of now, you can understand it like that only. Dezk gives you a lot of steps that can be placed in a macro, and those steps are so powerful that you can do a lot of things with them. Also, you can write your scripts of Powershell, VBS, Batch in the form of steps, and that gives you another level of control over things on your PC. You can only execute a macro from your connected mobile app for now.

Macros Components

The Macro section is subdivided into three parts:
  1. Creator: Macros are created and edited here.
  2. Manager: You can manage your macros here like importing any macro, rename, export, or delete.
  3. Viewer: You can view any macro here before executing it, this section is always useful when you import any macro and don't wanna execute it or mess with it, so you can always view it here without any risk.

Macro Steps

1) Wait

This step pauses the macro execution for specific seconds that you put in it. You can use this step where you know that the previous step will take time like opening any application or folder then you can add this step so the next step will only execute after waiting some time.

2) Wait Until Response

This step pauses the macro execution indefinitely until you click on the play button showing on your Dezk app. If you used this step in your macro then don't close the Dezk app while the execution of that particular macro. You can use this step wherever you want to hold and take control of your macro execution.

3) Send Keys

This step can press any key on the keyboard, you can either add a single keypress or multiple keypresses sequentially in a single step. Also, you can set interval duration in microseconds between each keypress if you added multiple keys in a single step. You can use this step according to your needs wherever you want.

4) Send Shortcut

This step can execute a shortcut key in your PC. It is simple to use as you can create a shortcut and it will execute that when it executes.

5) Mouse Click

This step can be used to emulate mouse click anywhere on the screen.

6) Type Text

You can write anything on your PC when this step executes. Just type whatever you want in that text box and it will write that when it executes.

7) Open File/Application

This step can open any file or application. It automatically opens up a particular file if it exists. You can normally use the wait step after this because it may or may not take time to open it depending upon the performance of your PC. To use this step just browse the file on the PC and you are good to go.

8) Open Folder

This step is the same as the previous step but this step opens a folder instead of any file or application.

9) Open URL

This step can open a specified URL in the default browser of the system. This is very simple to use, just put the URL in the box and you are good to go.

10) Goto Step

This step makes looping possible in macro. By this step, you can jump to a particular step forward or backward. If you jump backward then this will make a loop and this particular step executes as many times as you have written in there. To use this step, just put the number of the step you want to jump on and write the number of times this goto step has to be executed if you have jumped backward and you are good to go.

Advanced Steps

These steps make you able to execute scripts as a step in your macro. It gives you a lot of power as you can do as many things as you want by using these steps only but if you know about scripting like batch, VBS or PowerShell only then use these steps in your macros otherwise, it can also cause any level of damage to your system. You have to use them wisely as they can be used to execute malicious code on your system.


11) Run Bat Code

This step enables you to execute a batch script as a step in your macro.

12) Run VBS Code

This step enables you to execute a VBS script as a step in your macro.

13) Run Powershell Code

This step enables you to execute a PowerShell script as a step in your macro.

Step Functions

Basic functions available for each step.

  • Enable/Disable Step: You can disable any step by editing or during creating it, and it won't execute when you execute the macro until you re-enable it.
  • Default interval: This field is available inside the creator section, this defines a time interval or a default pause between the execution of each step.

Advance functions available in advance steps only.

  • Run In Background/Foreground: By this, you can control script execution visibility and make it either run in the foreground or background.
  • Wait For End: By enabling this you can pause macro execution until that script is executed completely, and if you turn off this then the script got executed and macro execution won't stop whether the script is completed or not.

Tools

Tools in Dezk are compact self-contained applications, these are not dependent on the mobile app to work with, and these are available as plugins on the official Dezk website.

Word Templator

This tool can create multiple documents based on an excel sheet by just simply making a template word file and mapping its fields to the columns of the excel sheet.

For example, you have some data in an excel document like in Figure A and you want to make multiple word documents like given in Figure B. These are just samples, as you can make more complex and content-rich documents. For this, firstly you need to create a template word document like given in Figure C.

Now you simply need to do some mapping in the tool as follows:
  • Select the excel file from which you want the data to be picked
  • Select the word file you created as a template file.
  • Select the sheet you want to work with, in our example, it is Sheet1.
  • Select start and stop range of data, in our example, the start index is 2, and the stop index is 7.
  • Now you need to create nodes, here we will do some data mapping. Create nodes equal to your columns, in our example, it is two so we will create two node
  • Write variable name in specific column node where you want to put the data of which specific column. In our example {name} and {num} are two variables present in our template file, we want {name} to be replaced by values of column A and {num} to be replaced by values of column B, so we will write name in Node A and num in Node B.
  • Now you need to select Naming Convention, it is a value that you decide is used by this tool to be prefixed by each generated file and in our example, we will select Column A
  • Now just click on the Start Templator button
  • It will take just a few seconds depending upon how many documents you want to generate.
  • When it's done you can click on the Open Destination button on the popup box or you can find a folder generated in the same location where your template file is placed with the name dezk_word_templator and you will find all the generated files in that folder only.
That's it, now you are good to go and ready to generate as many documents as you want just using some simple mapping.

Screen Share

This tool can stream your desktop screen live over any device on same network with lowest latency. There is no software required on the other device to watch the stream, as you just need to share the generated URL to fellow members connected on the same network and they just need to open it on any browser to see the live stream.

Steps to use this tool are as follows:
  • Download it from the plugins page and install it.
  • When you open it, select the screen source from the Select a source dropdown.
  • Check Stream System Audio if you want to stream your system audio too.
  • Click on Start Stream button.
  • Share the Stream URL to the one who connected on the same network and ask them to open it in their browsers.
  • Thats it! Click play to start watching live stream on browsers.
Note: If someone in between having any issues playing the live stream, then any of the user can just click Refresh button available on browser side to refresh the connection, it will fix the connection problem automatically.

Media Server

This tool can stream anything media you want on the same network with the help of OBS Studio (Open Source Software) and it's very easy to set it up. The only limitation of it right now is its delay of a few seconds inside stream and it can only properly work with the strong wifi network. But it also comes with its advantages like you can stream high-quality video with no internet usage

This is how you can set it up:
  • Download it from the plugins page and install it.
  • Click on the "Start Server" button.
  • You will see “Server” and “Stream Key”.
  • Open OBS Studio and click on Settings.
  • Goto Stream Tab and choose "Custom" in the "Service" dropdown menu.
  • Copy "Server" and "Stream Key" values from Dezk and paste them there, uncheck the authentication checkbox if it is checked.
  • Click Ok and you can now stream whatever you want from OBS Studio by clicking on the Start Stream button.
  • Now you have to just share the "Live Stream URL" to anyone who is connected on the same wifi network on which Dezk is connected and tell them to open that in the browser like Chrome or Firefox in their device.
  • That's it! You are live on their or anyone else's device on that network.
Note: This plugin is very heavy and require good hardware to run properly, if you want to just share your screen then you can use Screen Share plugin.

Simple FTP

Simple FTP is just a very simple tool to share files with the help of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to anyone on the same network. It is not the superfast solution for file sharing but it works well when you need it.

It's easy to share files with this tool and you can follow the step below to do it:
  • Download it from the plugins page and install it.
  • Choose the base folder you want to serve to others, as all the files and folders inside it are then visible to others.
  • Change credentials if you want, those are required to access files on your network.
  • Click on the Start Server button and you are ready to go.
  • Now just share the URL you see on the top looks like ftp://...
  • If other device is Windows PC then paste url to the address bar in the File Explorer and click enter, after filling up the password, you can easily share files.
  • You can use another FTP file manager to access files on mobile devices or PC.
Tip: You can use our android app ShareX for superfast file sharing available on PlayStore, it can share files with any device you want. It is available in both free and paid versions.

OCR

OCR (Optical Character Reader) is a very simple but powerful tool that you can use. It can read text from an image and gives you that text so that you can further use it anywhere you want. It currently supports only two languages i.e English and Hindi. It is very easy to use, you have to just choose the image and language you want to read and click on the Start OCR button and it will do the rest of the work for you.

FAQ

A FAQ is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers on a particular topic.

You have to make sure that Dezk is not currently supporting any external wifi dongle so if it's plugged in, then remove it and restart Dezk.
To properly use Dezk, use your mobile device hotspot and connect your PC with it. This will give you a better performance. You can also go switch your mobile hotspot band to 5.0 GHz if it is supported in your mobile device and your PC, this will boost the Dezk performance
Make sure to wait for some time or disconnect and re-connect Dezk with mobile app.
Your software might be suspended because of a reason, if are facing this error then try to re-activate it with the license key you got, and if it is still not working then contact anonictechies@gmail.com.
It is happening because there might be a problem with your network adapter or System32 folder, try to run the ipconfig command in your command line and if it's not working then there is a problem and can be fixed with some tweaks but if it's working then there can be other system problems so you can contact anonictechies@gmail.com anyways and we will help you out there

Dezk is just a big experimental software created for professionals or students, any general user can use it though and we accept that it is complex but it also provides you super controls over your system and you can do a lot of stuff with it easily.
